Spider veins are the finest veins that lie on the surface of the skin. They usually do not cause any symptoms but are usually visually disturbing for those affected. However, spider veins can be an indication of a venous disease.
In older patients, the spider veins are often just under the thin skin, so that sometimes very unpleasant bleeding can occur (variceal bleeding).
Spider veins can be successfully treated both with foam sclerotherapy and with a special vascular laser. Depending on the extent, several treatments are necessary. No anesthesia is necessary and there are no scars.
