Wrinkle Treatment

Due to the aging process and too much sun exposure, the skin on the face and body sags and wrinkles and furrows form. Smoking, exposure to the sun without sun protection and visits to solariums have a very negative impact on the aging process. People with skin types I to II are particularly at risk. Very active facial expressions can significantly increase the formation of wrinkles on the face.

Why do we need a 3D facial treatment?

Facial aging affects different layers of the skin.

The superficial layer of the skin (epidermis) reacts with pigment spots, fine wrinkles, increased cornification and the formation of veins.

The dermis is an important source for the formation of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and other important substances that give the skin firmness, elasticity and firmness. As we age, these important substances are produced in smaller and smaller amounts, causing the skin to sag and become thin.

The deepest layer of skin, the fatty tissue, gives the face fullness. Here, too, there is a loss with advancing age, so that, for example, the cheeks and lips become flatter and the cheeks sag and the cheeks sag.

How to treat wrinkles

The most commonly used and very effective treatments worldwide are injections with hyaluronic acid filler and with botulinum toxin A (Botox). Both substances complement each other very well and are therefore often used together. Timely therapy is very effective here and can slow down the aging process. Collagen inducers such as polylactic acid and hydroxyapatite have a very positive effect on skin firmness. By injecting these substances over a large area, the skin regains firmness and tension through the formation of new collagen. If the process is more advanced, then you have to use more invasive or multiple methods to get a good result. This is where laser skin resurfacing (laser lifting without a scalpel), deeper chemical peels and surgical tightening come into play.

What do hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers do?

Hyaluronic acid is an important component of the skin and is responsible for the formation of collagen. In addition, HA is a hydrophilic substance (likes to bind water molecules) and thanks to this hydrating effect it also has a very good padding effect. That is why the HA fillers are very popular both for more volume (cheeks, lips) and better contours in the face area as well as for the correction of deeper (corners of the mouth, nasolabial folds) and superficial wrinkles (fine cheek wrinkles, eye wrinkles, mouth creases). Almost all companies offer HA fillers with different concentrations and different sized particles so that there is a good solution for every problem.
HA fillers are biodegradable and cause hardly any side effects, the effect achieved lasts an average of 12 to 18 months.

What are the effects of collagen inducers?

Collagen inducers are substances (polylactic acid, hydroxyapatite) which, when injected into the skin, do not add volume but stimulate collagen production. The fine particles of these substances are broken down very slowly and cause a boost in collagen synthesis, making the skin firmer and more toned. The correction looks very natural, and the patients look younger and fresher.

How does botulinum toxin A (Botox) work?

Botox is a drug that has been used successfully for several decades as a muscle relaxant in neurology and ophthalmology. Its effect against mimic wrinkles and excessive sweating was discovered by chance and since then it has been an integral part of aesthetic medicine for the treatment of excessive facial expressions. Even small doses of this drug can calm the active facial expressions of so-called hyperkinetic wrinkles and thus counteract the formation of wrinkles. The drug is injected into the affected muscle with very thin needles and leads to a temporary blockage of the connection between the nerve and the muscle.

In this way, frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, mouth creases and neck creases can be positively influenced, and excessive facial expressions temporarily calmed down. This can counteract the onset of wrinkle formation and achieve a relaxed and youthful appearance. The side effects are minor and transient (occasionally small bruises).

What is liquid lifting?

The treatment of the face with Botox and HA fillers or collagen inducers leads to a lifting of the facial features. The mimic muscles of the face are treated with Botox that pull downwards and cause negative effects. The positive and upward lifting muscles are not treated. In addition, HA fillers also have a positive modeling effect on the face through fullness and lifting effects. The overall result is a lifting effect that is referred to as liquid lifting.

What is PDT Rejuvenation?

With photodynamic therapy (PDT), the signs of aging in the skin (keratoses) are alleviated through several treatments. After applying a gel containing a photoactive substance, the skin is irradiated with a special red-light lamp after a waiting period of 2 to 3 hours. A phototoxic reaction occurs which not only destroys the precursors of white skin cancer but also stimulates the formation of new collagen in the skin.

What are the effects of chemical peels?

Depending on the type and intensity of the peeling, different effects can be achieved on the skin. Superficial peelings refresh the skin and stimulate collagen regeneration. Medium-deep peelings can also remove fine wrinkles and pigment spots. Deep peelings lead to a complete renewal of the superficial skin layers and thus have a tightening effect and can also remove stronger wrinkles.

Is laser lifting a replacement for classic lifting?

Treatment of wrinkles, sagging skin and pigmentation with ultra-pulsed CO2 laser is a highly effective method of facial skin rejuvenation. The ideal and highly effective treatment for patients with a slim face but many wrinkles and sagging skin. In LA and sedoanalgesia, the top layer of skin is vaporized with the CO2 laser and the dermis is tightened. After a 10–14-day healing phase, the skin appears many years younger. Compared to a facelift, there are no scars, the skin is tightened, and age spots and most wrinkles disappear. It is not only a substitute for a lifting without a scalpel, but with the right patient selection it is even better than the classic lifting with much more natural results.
